The Mustangs finished up the week strong winning their 2nd straight UCBAC Chesapeake Division game and 3 out of 4 games in a row this week.  Despite a strong wind blowing straight in from left field C. Milton bats laced four doubles while pitcher Morghan Fulton shut down the Perryville offense giving up only four hits plus two walks while striking out two along the way.

Over the four-game week Mustang pitching and defense have allowed 6 runs (only 4 of which were earned) while the offense scored 26.  C. Milton Wright defense has made 0 errors in three straight games, and only two on the week (both coming in the 1st inning at Havre de Grace on Monday).

After a 3-up 3-down top of the first, the Mustangs drew first blood when Emily Luzetsky lead off with a walk, advanced on a passed ball, and moved to 2nd on the only error of the game.  Cat Kim put the ball into to play quickly sending Luzetsky to the plate, scoring what ended up being the winning run.

Perryville looked to get into the action in the 3rd inning when pitcher Lydia Hill shot a ball between the shortstop and 3rdbaseman, but was gunned down by a heads-up 3-3 double play with a line-drive to Caroline Weimer who dove down and tagged the bag.  Kaitlyn Griffin had her shot in the 4th leading off with a single followed by a walk, but the Mustang defense came through again with an amazing throw by 3rd baseman Jenny Lynch, diving to nab would might have been an RBI shot and throwing from the knees to first to get the out.  It took until the 7th inning for another significant Perryville threat when left-fielder Nikki Hill launched a shot to deep right-center field for a double, but the Panthers couldn’t bring her home and the Mustangs were able to secure the shutout victory.

A very scary moment occurred in the bottom of the 5th when Mustang left-fielder Kyralee Comeaux hit into a play and ran into Pather 2nd baseman Aleshia Shires who was backing up the play closely behind the first baseman.  Both players suffered bloody noses and ended up leaving the game.  Comeaux is currently being evaluated for an ankle injury also sustained in the collision, Shires was able to walk away following treatment on the field.  Our hearts and hopes go out to both players for a speedy recovery.

C. Milton Wright will take a 4-1 record (3-1 UCBAC Chesapeake) to Bachman Park in Glen Burnie Monday for the AA County Invitational Tournament, with games against Atholton and Howard High Schools.
